Free-to-play progress is about avoiding regret. You do not need every banner, but you do need a plan for currency, upgrades, and team roles.

F2P rules

Never pull without a role-based reason.
Separate favorite pulls from account-strength pulls.
Save enough currency for at least one future target.
Build fewer characters, but build them properly.
Use event shops to reduce permanent-stage farming.

How to decide on a banner

A free-to-play account should ask whether the character improves the current team, unlocks a new content type, or replaces an expensive weakness. If the answer is only that the unit is popular, waiting is usually the stronger account decision.

Favorites still matter. The key is to choose knowingly: if you pull for preference, do not also expect the account value of a perfect meta pull.
