At the POC verification station of the Wolong production line in Shaoxing, OmniHand completed the factory performance test of the same series of dexterous hands, running through 72 consecutive processes, from material loading, screw locking to self-inspection, unloading and returning to position, without the need for real-time manual intervention. The entire process takes 8.5 minutes in a single round, which is 30 seconds slower than the 8 minutes required by skilled labor. The task success rate reaches 98% and it can operate continuously for 8 hours. The OmniHand dexterous hand conducts a factory performance test on the same series of dexterous hands (Source/Enterprise) Among them, screw locking is the biggest challenge. The anti-loosening screw itself has millimeter-level shaking. Add the weight of the screw gun and the recoil caused by the cable pull. As long as the hand is offset by 1 mm, the deviation at the end of the gun head will be magnified to 3 to 4 mm. During the test process, the team also artificially created interferences such as mechanical arm push, tooling base offset, and lighting changes. The dexterous hand relied on visual and tactile linkage to correct deviations in real time. It could automatically retreat and realign when screwing in failed. The stability of the entire set of operations comes from the optimization of single-step operation capabilities by real machine reinforcement learning and the support of the industrial deployment agent framework. The latter is responsible for process verification, failure rollback and status synchronization between work stations. Shaoxing Wolong production line (Source/Enterprise) Critical Point CEO Qiao Tianjie defined this production line test as a landmark node for the dexterous hand industry from development to deployment. “The development stage is more about the demo quality, while the deployment stage is assessing the tempo, success rate, stability and ROI.” In his view, after decades of iteration, the gripper can cover 70% to 80% of the deterministic processes in the industrial scene; the goal of the dexterous hand is to overcome the remaining 20% to 30% of complex and delicate operations that the gripper is incompetent for. The use of universal smart end effectors can be adapted to multiple types of processes, reducing the modification costs and scenario limitations caused by dedicated machines in traditional production lines. The production line POC verified the feasibility of the hardware and operating framework at real workstations, and also extended the long-term survival of the industry.
