IT House reported on November 1 that Qt announced the launch of Clate, an embedded device interface design tool. Designers can generate operation interfaces through a visual editor or AI without writing code, and export the design results as QML code for engineers to integrate into Qt applications. The official first Beta test version 0.6 is now open for users to download for free. IT Home attaches the project address (https://doc.qt.io/clate/docs/release-notes/clate-0-6/). IT House learned that Clate is built based on Qt Quick and is mainly designed for human-machine interaction interface (HMI) design of industrial equipment, medical instruments and consumer electronics products. Designers can adjust the position, size, color and gradient effect of each object, and preview the design results through an independent window. Any graphics, text, pictures and other elements they create on the canvas will be mapped to Qt's declarative interface language QML in the background. Engineers can then import these files into Qt 6.12 and further add interactive logic and data processing functions. In addition, Clate also has a built-in chat AI assistant, and designers can ask AI to create a new interface or modify design elements through natural language instructions. The first beta version accesses Claude Agent of Anthropic through ACP (Agent Client Protocol), and users need to log in with their own Claude account. Currently, Clate 0.6 is still in beta and does not support reusable design components and data binding features. Qt plans to add variable and data binding support in 2026, and launch animation editing, design system management and multi-person real-time collaboration functions in the spring of 2027. The official commercial version of Clate is expected to be released in the summer of 2027.
