OpenAI launches $230 Codex Micro keyboard designed for AI agent workflows

OpenAI officially released the Codex Micro, a hardware product developed in cooperation with Work Louder on July 15. This is a $230 dedicated keyboard designed to allow developers to more intuitively control the Codex agent workflow. This product was unveiled in a preview last month and is now officially on the market, offering both sound and silent shaft versions. The keyboard integrates real-time RGB agent status. According to the official description, each agent key of the Codex Micro keyboard can instantly display the running status of the Codex agent through RGB lighting, including thinking, executing, waiting or completing. Users can keep track of the overall situation without switching chat windows. The product is also equipped with joysticks, command keys and knobs, which are used to trigger common workflows (such as reviewing PRs, debugging or refactoring code), quickly execute commands such as acceptance, rejection, and push dialogue, and dynamically adjust the inference intensity. Flexible Customization and Desktop Integration As demonstrated by the OpenAI developer relations team in a promotional video, users can freely reassign the function of any key and customize how surrogate keys operate. Developer Thomas Ricouard emphasized in the actual demonstration that the experience of this keyboard in the ChatGPT desktop application is "flexible and surprising" and can significantly reduce the number of operation switches.
