Meta officially launches the Mac version of its AI chatbot app. Meta said in an announcement Wednesday that users can share the contents of a window on their screen with an AI chatbot that can provide suggestions, answer questions or generate content based on what is displayed on the screen. Meta AI also supports cross-app dictation on Mac. Strengthening the positioning of productivity assistants This release comes as Meta builds its AI chatbot into a more productivity-focused assistant to align with its competitors. Google's Gemini AI application already supports window sharing, while OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude applications go one step further, allowing chatbots to directly control computer operations. New features for businesses and creators Meta simultaneously introduces new AI features for businesses and creators. The company said its app, available on web, mobile and Mac, now works directly with Instagram and Facebook accounts, Meta ad campaigns and the Google Workspace. Analyzing post performance and automating tasks Meta points out, for example, that an AI chatbot can analyze a post’s reach, likes, shares, and saves to suggest what content should be posted next. Apps can also pull information from corporate accounts and the web to create presentations, documents and spreadsheets, and perform repetitive tasks such as providing regular weekly performance updates.
