ChatGPT 與 Codex 12 月起共用用量 Codex 用太多或令 ChatGPT「降智」

OpenAI updated the support page and announced that starting from December, the usage quota of ChatGPT Plus, Pro and Business plans will be shared by ChatGPT and Codex, and will be calculated in tokens. OpenAI stated that this move is in conjunction with the integration of Work’s agent function into the ChatGPT main experience. According to the OpenAI description, the usage of ChatGPT and Codex will be calculated in tokens, which are the units used by the model to process and generate information. The actual amount of credits consumed depends on the model selected by the user and the tasks required to be performed. More advanced models and more complex tasks will generally consume more credits. Instant conversations do not count towards usage. Users can check the total remaining usage and reset time of ChatGPT and Codex in "Settings → Usage" in the future. If the usage reaches the upper limit, you can choose to wait for the limit to be reset, upgrade the plan, or purchase credits to continue using eligible functions. OpenAI means preparations have been made for this change, and it is expected that most users will not have to wait for usage resets any longer than they are now. If you use Codex too much, ChatGPT may be "slow". Since the two share the same quota, users who often use Codex to handle large-scale programming tasks may run out of quota quickly. Before the reset, users may only be able to use Instant regardless of usage, and may no longer be able to handle complex problems with more advanced models. As a result, the quality of ChatGPT's answers may decline, which is tantamount to "reducing intelligence." In other words, users may need to allocate the quota between Codex and ChatGPT daily use. However, OpenAI has not announced the exact effective date, the quota size of each plan, which are "eligible functions", and which models can still be used after the quota is used up. The actual impact still needs to be determined after the official launch. Further reading: OpenAI Tighten ChatGPT Paid subscription per device
