ChatGPT 浏览器扩展大升级:能读你开着的标签页,还替你填表发信 OpenAI 近日给 ChatGPT 的浏览器扩展做了一次明显升级

ChatGPT browser extension has been greatly upgraded: it can read your open tabs and fill out forms and send letters for you. OpenAI recently made a significant upgrade to the browser extension of ChatGPT. The new version allows users to directly "name" Chrome in the ChatGPT conversation, and the assistant can read the opened web page tags as context, and accordingly compare page content, organize data, or take over tasks in the browser. The scenarios listed by the official are very down-to-earth: summarizing and comparing the prices and functions of several suppliers, organizing forms, pre-filling forms, and even drafting emails for you based on web page information. The accompanying sidebar is also easier to use - open ChatGPT at any time while browsing the web, and the conversation history is preserved all the way. The higher-level ChatGPT Work can directly manipulate tags after user authorization: filling in forms, sending messages, downloading files, and sorting out messy tabs are all a breeze. This set of capabilities is not only bundled with Chrome, but also covers Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi; among them, Opera can adjust tabs and control the browser, but it lacks a sidebar. As for whether it can be used, it depends on the desktop version, workspace settings and grayscale rhythm. The permissions are not fully opened, and the retired Atlas data will not be moved accordingly. OpenAI deliberately draws a clear boundary: the extension does not allow free browsing of all web pages by default. Broader browser permissions will be requested during installation, but before the assistant operates a new website for the first time, it will ask for permission by default. Users can choose one of three - allow only this time, only allow this site, or allow all. Access to browsing history requires separate authorization. When encountering a page that requires login, it can borrow your current login status, but the official still reminds: users must review the page content, permission pop-ups, and key actions such as submitting and sending by themselves. This upgrade coincides with the retirement of the ChatGPT Atlas browser. OpenAI has confirmed that Atlas will be discontinued, but the open tabs, bookmarks and history in it will not be automatically migrated to browsers such as Chrome. The purpose of the new extension is to sew ChatGPT into users' existing browsing habits, rather than to transfer the entire Atlas environment - if you want to use it, you have to reinstall and re-authorize it in a commonly used browser. via AI News (author: AI Base)
