Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 chip upgrades come with Siri AI

Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 will be launched next month. Rumors indicate that the two new watches will be equipped with more powerful new chips and may be named S11 or S12. This upgrade comes at the right time, because watchOS 27 will also be released next month and feature Siri AI as its main feature. Chip upgrades have not been seen for many years. Most Apple products will continue to be replaced with stronger chips, but the Apple Watch is an exception. New models are released every year, but many times the "new" S-series chips don't come with faster CPUs; real performance upgrades only come every few years. The S10 chip used in last year’s Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Series 11 is exactly the same as the previous generation. Voice assistants consume more performance. Mark Gurman recently wrote that this year’s new Apple Watch will receive a long-awaited chip and speed upgrade; the last time the Apple Watch chip brought performance gains was the S9 in 2023. watchOS 27 focuses on Siri AI, and this feature is the same as the new version of Siri on iPhone, iPad, Mac and other devices, and is not a weaker version. For this reason, watchOS 27 no longer supports many older Apple Watch models; in the beta version, Siri's response has not been satisfactory, which may be partly related to the old chip. The first chip in the artificial intelligence era Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 will be equipped with the first Apple Watch chip designed for the artificial intelligence era. The new chip comes just in time for Siri AI's debut in watchOS 27, and is expected to improve response issues seen during testing.
