IT House reported on August 15 that on the 14th local time, Suno officially launched Studio 2.0, which through a series of major upgrades has further moved closer to a "real digital audio workstation (DAW)" instead of just a simple audio editor with generative AI functions. The most important upgrade is undoubtedly the addition of MIDI support. Suno said that MIDI has always been the most requested feature by users, and it is also an almost indispensable basic capability for modern DAWs. However, users are currently limited to the included proprietary synthesizer, which offers 3 envelopes and 4 LFOs. Users can give MIDI data directly to the AI as prompts. For example, users can play a set of chords and then have Suno generate MIDI audio, continue a melody, or create a B section based on a part that has already been played. Studio 2.0 also adds automation controls common to DAWs, allowing users to adjust the pan and volume of individual tracks as the arrangement progresses. Suno also integrates the chatbot directly into the Studio interface, allowing users to ask the AI to compose lyrics or generate new guitar parts. The chatbot reads the music content of the current project rather than generating results independently of the project. Users can simply ask something like “make this vocal track sound better,” and AI can automatically add reverb, compression, and EQ. Studio 2.0 also adds a basic set of built-in effects, supporting distortion, delay, reverb, compression and EQ. The most noteworthy feature of the chat interface is that it allows users to create custom effect plug-ins through AI, from unique reverbs to brickwall compression to chorus effects. It’s similar in form to Polyend’s Endless AI guitar effects. The generated effects are also saved in the user's account and can be recalled later. Suno Studio 2.0 is significantly more feature-rich than the first version, but the beta version of the chat function further reduces the need for users to do it themselves.
