Adobe integrates Acrobat into WhatsApp Web, allowing users to view PDF files directly

Starting today, WhatsApp Web users can review, review, and annotate PDF files directly within the chat interface without leaving the conversation and without the need for additional downloads. Adobe integrates Acrobat's PDF tools directly into WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp for Windows to make workflows smoother. Annotate without downloading In the past, when receiving a PDF file on WhatsApp, users had to download it before opening it, and there was no built-in review or annotation function. The integration announced by Adobe today changes that, so users can now open, review, and annotate files without leaving the conversation or downloading the file. Supports encryption and password protection This integration also supports password-protected PDF files, and all files shared in chats are still protected by WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption. Adobe stresses that "only participants in the chat can read these files." Reflecting the cross-platform strategy Adobe said that this move reflects the growing trend of WhatsApp being used on large-screen devices - the increased demand for document processing such as contracts, invoices, forms and assignments; it is also part of the overall strategy of integrating Acrobat tools into people's daily work platforms (such as Chrome, Microsoft 360, Copilot, ChatGPT, Workday, etc.).
