Musk’s latest SpaceX speech: We must win the AI race

On Tuesday local time, SpaceX released a 30-minute video of an all-staff meeting on the social platform X. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said at the conference that AI has become "an extremely important part of SpaceX's future." Musk said in his speech: "Our AI revenue may - no, not possible, but certain - probably in September, that is, next month, exceed the combined revenue of all other SpaceX businesses." He then added: "And by the fourth quarter, AI revenue will significantly exceed the combined revenue of all other SpaceX businesses." Musk then talked about the training plan of SpaceX's large language model series Grok. He said: "We will use the sum of all the information from SpaceX to train Grok. So in a sense, it will be trained by you." Musk said that SpaceX employees will become "the parents of the AI" and the AI will inherit their thoughts, ideas and beliefs. Musk said, "We have to win on AI hardware and AI software. That's probably the most important message. I think this is actually the most important message I want to convey today, which is that we have to win in AI, because the future will overwhelmingly be about AI and robots." However, he did not disclose how he will use employee information to train Grok. Meta, for example, launched a program in April this year to train AI models using employee keystrokes. The decision sparked a backlash and the plan has now been suspended.
