South Korea binds the US industrial chain! SK Hynix, Samsung, Nvidia, and Broadcom sign major US$950 billion deal

Kuai Technology reported on July 25 that according to multiple media reports, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung set off for an 11-day visit on July 24, local time, with the first stop in San Francisco and a total stay of two days. During his visit to San Francisco, Li Zaiming met with a number of top executives in the global AI industry, including Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and Broadcom CEO Chen Fuyang. Subsequently, on July 25, local time, South Korean presidential adviser Kim Yong-beom revealed at a press conference that Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will reach a total value of US$950 billion in memory chip supply cooperation with large American technology companies including Nvidia. Among them, SK Hynix will provide long-term memory chips worth US$750 billion to U.S. companies including Nvidia, and Samsung Electronics will provide chips worth US$200 billion to Broadcom. It is reported that Nvidia and SK Hynix also announced an AI infrastructure plan worth more than US$500 billion. Samsung Electronics and Broadcom signed a strategic cooperation memorandum of understanding, planning to carry out cooperation with a total value of more than 200 billion US dollars in the next five years (to 2030) around memory chips and wafer foundry. Not only that, in the field of AI data centers, Korean companies and overseas companies plan to promote the construction of about 5GW of data centers and carry out investment cooperation around the supply of about 2 million GPUs. Industry analysts say that this series of historically huge orders and infrastructure investments will not only directly alleviate the current bottleneck of the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) supply chain, but also lock in long-term and highly visible revenue expectations for Korean chip manufacturers, reshaping the production capacity layout and investment pattern of the global semiconductor market.
