Kuai Technology reported on July 9 that Step Star officially announced today that it will bring a new generation of intelligent terminals to bring new answers to the Agent era. According to domestic media reports, Step Star is about to release an AI terminal brand, an intelligent system and its first AI intelligent mobile phone. This will also be the first native intelligent mobile phone terminal among the world's large model companies, earlier than the AI terminal launch cycle planned by OpenAI. According to people familiar with the matter, Step Star will launch an AI smart phone, which will be manufactured by Huaqin Technology, an A-share listed company, and the two parties have a deep binding partnership, not a simple OEM model. Huaqin Technology is a leading company in the global smart hardware ODM industry. Relevant data shows that shipments of smartphones, laptops, and tablets exceed 10% of the world's total. Huaqin Technology completed strategic equity investment as early as the Step Star B+ round of financing. The subsequent round of C round financing continued to increase, and the joint layout of industry chain companies such as OmniVision and ZTE formed an integrated collaborative link for large models, complete machine manufacturing, imaging, and communications. StepFun was established in Shanghai in 2023. It is the leading general-purpose large-model unicorn in China and ranks among the Six Little Tigers of Shanghai AI. It was founded by former Microsoft Global Vice President Jiang Daxin, with Yin Qi as the chairman. The team brings together top AI research talents from Microsoft and Byte. The company's cumulative financing exceeds 20 billion yuan, with ZTE, Huaqin, Tencent, Longcheer and other consumer electronics industry chain companies participating in the investment. It has now completed the shareholding reform and is sprinting towards the Hong Kong IPO. Its core route is different from pure cloud model manufacturers, focusing on large models + terminal hardware full-link implementation. The core technology of the self-developed Step series of 100-billion-level multi-modal base large models is the Step-GUI graphical interface agent, which includes lightweight end-side models and standardized open protocols. It can locally identify mobile phone interfaces and automatically complete complex and coherent operations across more than 200 apps. We have previously cooperated with a number of terminal manufacturers to implement this function in OPPO mobile phones, Geely cars, etc.
