Apple’s first smart glasses will be released in June next year: no screen! Similar to Meta, Huawei

Kuai Technology reported on July 27 that according to Mark Gurman, Apple plans to release its first smart glasses at the WWDC Developer Conference in June 2027. The product will be officially released to consumers in the second half of 2027. Privacy and security are the core promotion direction of this product. Apple is currently developing a number of new software and hardware privacy protection functions. Such solutions have not yet been applied to similar smart glasses products on the market. Subsequent external publicity will focus on comparing Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses to highlight its own privacy advantages. At present, the public is generally worried that smart glasses with cameras will secretly record other people's images in public places. Apple has created multiple product prototypes to address this concern. One type is equipped with a camera that is only used for AI assistance and cannot take photos and videos, and the other type completely eliminates the camera module. After a comprehensive evaluation, the final mass-produced model will most likely retain the camera, but will be equipped with Apple’s full set of iconic privacy protection mechanisms. These glasses are positioned as a "lightweight smart wearable accessory" in the Apple ecosystem. They do not have independent computing capabilities and need to rely on the iPhone for some tasks, similar to the linkage logic between Apple Watch and iPhone. There is no display, and the overall plan is similar to products such as Meta, Huawei, and Xiaomi. It is equipped with cameras, microphones, and speakers. The functions should be similar to previous products. It supports playing music, answering calls, and accessing Siri to broadcast various message notifications. It is expected to also provide intelligent support such as large models through the new version of Siri. Based on Apple Watch's S-class chip customization, priority is given to ensuring energy efficiency. The core function is to control multiple cameras and handle basic AI tasks to avoid battery life shortcomings caused by high power consumption.
