Oracle’s new OpenJDK project rules: submission of AI generated code is not allowed

IT House reported on August 9 that Oracle (IT House Note: Oracle) has notified OpenJDK developers that the project team can no longer submit AI-generated code. Oracle said in this regard: "OpenJDK community contribution content must not include content generated by large language models, diffusion models, or deep learning systems. The 'content' here includes but is not limited to code, text, PR, email communication, wikis, and bug reports." Oracle explained that the introduction of this new regulation is mainly due to concerns about intellectual property risks, network security risks, and code review workload. Developers can still use AI tools privately to review, debug code, and conduct research related to the OpenJDK project, but all AI-generated content must not be submitted to the repository.
