It is reported that Xu Can, a senior researcher at Tencent Hunyuan, has transferred to WeChat WeLM, and WeChat AI may enter an acceleration stage.

IT House reported on August 14 that according to 36 Krypton’s report today, Xu Can, a senior researcher at Tencent Hunyuan, recently joined the WeChat WeLM team to engage in large model research and development related work. Multiple people familiar with the matter revealed that before Yao Shunyu took over the research and development of Tencent's large language model, Xu Can served as the person in charge of one direction of post-training in the Hunyuan LLM system. It is worth mentioning that this job transfer occurred at a stage where WeChat continues to strengthen its self-developed large models and Agent capabilities. According to previous reports from IT House, WeChat’s native AI assistant “Xiaowei” was launched on Grayscale in June. Public recruitment information also shows that WeChat is currently recruiting WeLM inference optimization and Agent researchers. Xu Can’s joining may further supplement WeChat’s WeLM team’s research and development capabilities in training, reasoning and complex task execution. According to public information on the Internet, Xu Can graduated from Sichuan University with a bachelor's degree in computer science and a master's degree in computer technology from Peking University. He served as a senior research scientist in Microsoft AI and contributed core technologies to projects such as Microsoft Xiaoice, Bing, WizardLM and Phi-3.
