When Dianne Penn joined Anthropic in 2023, the company's product team had only five engineers, and the entire API business was handled by one engineer. At that time, OpenAI had already established a leading advantage with ChatGPT and GPT-4, and Anthropic was still looking for its own product positioning. Three years later, as the first technical product manager of Anthropic and currently the product leader of the AI Research and Labs team, Dianne participated in the model release from Claude 2 to Fable, and was deeply involved in Claude Code, MCP, Skills, tool calling and inference capabilities.
