According to fast technology news on August 16, Horizon founder and CEO Yu Kai publicly stated on Weibo that Journey 7 (J7) will become the world’s most powerful autonomous driving chip, and emphasized that “Horizon’s 11 years of accumulated software and hardware capabilities are no lie.” According to reports, Horizon is making every effort to promote the research and development of the next-generation smart driving chip Journey 7 series. Among them, the highest-performance version J7P has a target computing power that will significantly exceed NVIDIA Thor-X and is expected to achieve mass production in 2027. Continuing the family strategy of Journey 6, J7 will also provide a variety of product combinations to cover different levels of needs. At the architectural level, Yu Kai predicted in December last year that Journey 7 will be equipped with Horizon's fourth-generation BPU architecture "Riemann", which is designed to move towards the ultimate artificial intelligence and fully benchmark the Tesla AI5 chip. At the same time, CARIZON, a joint venture between Horizon and Volkswagen, announced that the C7H chip jointly built by both parties is also based on the Riemann architecture, using J7 as the base, using 3-4nm process, and the AI ​​computing power of a single chip reaches 500-700 TOPS. In terms of market performance, a report from investment research institution Bernstein shows that in the second quarter of 2026, in China's L2+ smart driving market, based on the number of vehicles installed, Horizon's share reached 32%, Nvidia's share dropped to 28%, and Qualcomm's share rose to 20%. This is the first time that Horizon has surpassed NVIDIA and become the largest supplier in China's L2+ market.
