The China Aerospace Science and Technology Aerospace Lijian-1 Yao-15 carrier rocket has been successfully launched a few days ago. In the One-Arrow Five-Star mission, the Jitianxing A-04 star carrying the domestic GPU intelligent computing load has successfully entered the predetermined orbit, and the computing power satellite has also been officially implemented. This satellite was jointly developed by Zhijiang Laboratory, Muxi Technology, Yunjian Information, Xunsky Qianhe, Zhejiang University of Science and Technology and other units. The core attraction is not ordinary remote sensing tasks, but bringing domestic computing power into the sky and sky scenes. The satellite is equipped with an intelligent computing payload based on the Muxi GPU chip, and is also equipped with a spaceborne router and laser communication machine to lay the foundation for subsequent on-orbit computing, data transmission and satellite interconnection. Unlike traditional satellites, which are more responsible for taking pictures and transmitting data, Yunjian Muxi has further moved its computing power to orbit. According to the disclosed information, this satellite has achieved full-link intelligence from design and manufacturing to operation and management. It will also undertake the on-orbit reliability verification task of domestic GPUs in the future. This is also an important step for the domestic intelligent computing industry chain to move into space. What’s really noteworthy about this line is that computing infrastructure is extending from the ground to space. In the past, people paid more attention to whether satellites could connect to the Internet and transmit data back. Now they are starting to look at whether satellites can calculate and coordinate by themselves, and even handle tasks directly in orbit. The successful entry of domestic GPU into orbit shows that space computing power is no longer just in the conceptual stage.
