Startup Majestic launches AI server “Prometheus” with optional 8TB-128TB LPDDR6 memory

IT House News on August 2, according to technology media TechRadar reported today, startup Majestic Labs recently announced the launch of Prometheus AI server. The new product uses a combination of AIU+LPDDR6 memory, aiming to challenge Nvidia’s GPU+HBM combination. According to reports, the Prometheus server does not use GPUs, but uses Ignite AI processing units (AIUs) that combine Arm cores with RISC-V vector and tensor engines. Each Prometheus can be configured with up to 12 AIUs and 8TB-128TB LPDDR6 memory. At the same time, a standard 40U rack can install up to 4 Prometheus servers, with a total power consumption of 120kW. Uses a liquid cooling system instead of traditional air cooling. Officials claim that one Majestic cabinet has the same memory capacity as 25 NVIDIA NVL72 Vera Rubin cabinets and consumes less power than NVIDIA. Additionally, the server, expected to be available next year, is OCP (Open Compute Project) compliant and compatible with PyTorch, vLLM and the OpenAI Triton framework.
