To suppress Changxin and other Chinese storage manufacturers! SK hynix makes conditions for the United States to first expand equipment exports to China

Kuai Technology reported on October 16 that in order to suppress the development of local Chinese storage manufacturers such as Changxin and Yangtze Memory, overseas storage giants have continued to introduce various targeted restrictions. South Korean memory chip giant SK Hynix has also recently been promoting a series of special layout actions. Against the background that the United States continues to promote the world's leading chip companies to invest and build factories in the United States, SK Hynix was revealed to be actively negotiating with Washington, hoping to reach a special bilateral arrangement. Industry sources familiar with the matter revealed that SK Hynix’s core appeal is to obtain a special license from the U.S. official, allowing it to export more U.S.-made semiconductor equipment to its own factories in China to expand local production capacity. It has already regarded obtaining this license as an important prerequisite for promoting the construction of new factories in the United States. Multiple sources further confirmed that Solidigm, a U.S. subsidiary of SK Hynix, is currently formally submitting a new export license application, hoping to ship more U.S. semiconductor equipment that meets the requirements to its NAND flash memory production base in Dalian, China. The current core output of this Dalian factory is NAND flash memory products for solid-state drives for data center scenarios. This type of memory chips are now widely used in core areas such as artificial intelligence computing clusters and cloud computing infrastructure. The production equipment currently in use in the Dalian plant is all from leading semiconductor equipment suppliers in the United States. The list includes leading companies in the industry such as Lam Group, Applied Materials and Kelei. SK Hynix has earlier officially announced the restart of the No. 2 factory construction project of its NAND flash memory production base in Dalian, China. After the entire production line is fully put into operation, the overall memory chip production capacity of the Dalian plant will be directly expanded by about 50%. The Dalian No. 2 factory officially started construction four years ago. Subsequently, as the global memory industry entered a downturn, the entire construction project has been stagnant for a long time, and there has been no substantial progress. According to the latest public project plan of SK Hynix, the installation and commissioning of the first batch of semiconductor production equipment will be completed before the end of this year, and formal mass production will be launched in the first half of next year. new
